Izhaikolam is decoration made at the entrance of the house or in the main hall on festive days. A thin strip of cloth is dipped in a batter made of rice and is squeezed to get the batter out to create any shape that you like.
Apart from the traditional square box designs, paisley is my favourite shape but I have experimented with other shapes to entertain my daughter. One such experiment was Hello Kitty 🙂
Images of all my significant kolams are included in this post.
This was made on the day of Karthigai Deepam in November 2012.
